Active Age For All

Active Age for All and Donabate Community Centre are starting Christmas early! Both are working together to do a project for Inclusion Week. The plan is for a hand-crafted Christmas tree that will be displayed in the Community Centre and will have been made by representatives from some of the schools, societies, peninsula organizations and particularly any individuals who like to do handcraft. The tree will be made from squares produced from wool or fabric by those involved. Here are some guidelines for you to consider for your contributions.Finished squares should be 30 centimetres each side OR could be made up from 4 x 15 centimetre squares joined together to become a full size 30 centimetre square. These can be knitted, or crocheted or quilted. If you want to show off different types of stitch – feel free to do so!Any of the 40 shades of green can be used.Decorations or baubles can be made too – perhaps some of our younger generation can do this.Take a few photos while you are making your squares or decorations so they can be displayed.Zoom together to meet while you are working on the project and to stay in touch. There will be an opportunity for anyone visiting the tree to make a donation to the Hospice. After Christmas, the plan is to have a team of people to put the squares together and to raffle off the quilts at the next fundraising time for the Hospice – before Easter. It looks like ZOOM is our only change of meeting together while we knit or crochet. We might need the younger generations in our households to teach us how to use it! It would be great if we could pull together on this project and make it a real success. We look forward to your support. Eilish McDermott can be contacted on 087 791 1883 if you have any queries. Some exercise classes each week are now available FREE to all members who can connect to the class via Zoom. Check your emails to find the link. While we were all ready to return to our sanitised classes,
