Lets keep Lusk Clean and Tidy

Lets keep Lusk Clean and Tidy

With the return to outdoor activities since the relaxing of the covid-19 restrictions the recreational hub has been buzzing with activity. This is great as children need to play, exercise, socialise, etc. However, since the reopening, the amount of casually discarded rubbish has really increased. Every single day last week I picked up a bag full of bottles, sweet and bar wrappers, pizza and chip boxes, etc. The image below of several bags grouped together is what I alone collected last week. This week I have also collected several bags, with usually one bag per day being filled. That is just what I have picked up and bagged. I have also picked up and binned other rubbish in the hub when I didn’t have a bag with me. I’m sure that other people also collect some rubbish from there too. It can’t just be me. The complete lack of thought, care and responsibility on display by those who discard their rubbish in the hub is deeply upsetting. While there are probably some adults directly responsible for dropping rubbish, the vast majority of it is without any doubt from teens / other children.Parents - please please please discuss littering with your children. I have picked up rubbish at the hub and there are kids just sitting there ignoring it right beside them. It’s totally unacceptable and must stop. Please educate your children as to their civic duty, environmental responsibility, and a basic understanding of how this is wrong. Love Lusk. Keep it clean and safe.
