At the November Area meeting Cllr Rob O’Donoghue tabled a motion regarding the dangers of traffic on the Ministers Road between Dun Emer Estate and the R132 junction. The motion asked the Chief Executive to provide a traffic calming measures and pedestrian works.Cllr O’Donoghue stated that ‘The area is being used by more pedestrians since the covid crisis has developed, as a walkway and this is likely to continue in a post covid world with the ever growing nature of Lusk. There is no footpath on the road or even areas that where pedestrians can stand-in to avoid traffic in both directions’.The response from the Council stated that the road had been inspected and that traffic calming measures would be considered in the 2021 programme of works. Cllr O’Donoghue welcomed the reporting and during the discussion where he was supported by other local Councillors he highlighted the serious traffic hazards that exist for pedestrians in the area. He outlined that immediate action should be taken before a serious accident occurs on the road.
