The Little Tern project is in full swing at the north end of Portrane beach thanks to our hard working volunteers and we currently have 4 pairs sitting on eggs. These rare birds have flown all the way from Africa to nest at Portrane, Dublin, Ireland. By helping protect the Terns other birds such as Skylark, Meadow Pipit and Ringed Plover also benefit. The plovers nest both inside and outside the cordoned off area and we have 13 chicks and counting. The eggs and chicks are really well camouflaged so please mind your step and keep dogs on their leads in this area. You would hate to see one of these cute fluffy lollipops getting accidentally trod on or scoffed by your dog.
