The 2021 Garden will be developed adjacent to the entry from 2020 and even though Bloom is not scheduled until May 2021, work has commenced on October 3 with the initial prep work of tidying the rough ground in advance of a Mytex covering being put in situ over the garden’s dimensions. There’s a huge amount of work to get through,” explains Brian Geraghty, Project Manager of the Malahide Allotments initiative who was on site to supervise the first day’s work. “This is a significant project for us here and we’re looking to improve on last year’s entry and we have some exciting plans for the garden we are looking to develop here for Bloom 2021.” We have an excellent team of volunteers and we look forward to the support of all the allotment holders here and we will keep everyone updated through our social media platforms and we welcome holders to visit when they are on site to witness the progress first hand. We would ask everyone to observe all Covid-19 and HSE protocols while in attendance. The allotments are important to everyone’ health and well being and we would like to ensure that all neccessary precautions are put in place by the Allotment Team and everyone else who comes through the gates here.” Added Geraghty: “We have a design in progress but if any allotment holders would like an idea of their’s consdered for inclusion, we’d love to hear from them by contacting me or anyone on the Alllotment Volunteer Team.”
