Malahide Lions Club were delighted to present a cheque for €8000 to RNLI Howth recently. It takes €250,000 yearly to run the lifeboat which is a real life saving necessity in our region. It’s their share of proceeds from the recent highly successful Malahide Classic & Vintage Motor Show which the Lions Club organise each year for the benefit of local and national charities. There is always something for everyone on the day and this year was no exception with family fun and games, card magic and ice cream as well as the Vintage and classic cars on display. Once again it was a really wonderful day out which not only benefited the RNLI but LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. Malahide Lions club said, “Thank you to the great community who supported the event and the car owners who took part.”

Matilda the musical was performed recently at St Mary’s Baldoyle, by our fantastic transition students and directed by Amy White Lambe. The wonderful production was presented to packed-out audiences each night with students receiving thoroughly well-deserved standing ovations each evening. It was a tremendous achievement given that Amy had only worked with the Transition Years for about five weeks. Congratulations to Amy and to all that took part and gave the audience, the pupils and staff of St Mary’s such wonderful performances.

Fantastic work by our super volunteers who are all doing their best to rally the troops to contribute to our Sylsfuture! A cheque for €930 presented tonight by our Syl’s swap shop committee Orla Byrne, Celina O Rourke, Orla O’Donnell, Aine O’Neill and Miriam Gilmartin! Also we had a cheque for €500 presented by Nicky Cleere to the Sylsfuture fund and €500 to support our wonderful Syl’s stars group from the proceeds of his photo calendar. What a hero!
