The Award aims to identify, develop, accredit and recognise high quality tennis clubs in Ireland and their contribution to the development of tennis in Ireland. Mayor of Fingal Cllr Seána Ó Rodaigh commented: “I would like to say a huge Comhghairdeas ó chroí libh to Swords Tennis Club on the Tennis Ireland Bronze Clubmark Award. The club committee and volunteers have put in a lot of time and hard work over the past number of months and years and this award celebrates that passion and dedication.”Presenting the Award, Shane Cook, President of Tennis Ireland said: “It was a great pleasure to present Swords Tennis Club with this accolade. Their enthusiasm and energy is infectious and shows how much the Club strives to be the best in its field.” Swords Tennis Club Chairperson Stephen Girvin commented: “What we thought might be an arduous task turned into one of the most rewarding club experiences. The process of putting together the requirements for the award, many of which we already had and guarded by former committee members, gave us a growing confidence in the way we were running the club.” Swords now takes its place amongst the other Tennis Ireland Clubmark accredited Fingal Tennis Clubs including Portmarnock Tennis Club, Donabate Portrane Tennis Club, Castleknock LTC, Sutton LTC, and Grove LTC. St Sylvester’s U12’s boys have just completed a cracking season. Having received the support of new jerseys courtesy of Joe Duffy BMW at the start of the season, they represented Syls with pride and determination. All four football teams and all three hurling teams finished the season in the top half of their respective leagues. They proved more than a match for all that their opponents ( and Covid ) could throw at them. Certainly, one of the highlights will be the boys who went unbeaten all season and were TOP of their Football A division group. The boys enter the Christmas break having earned a well deserved break, and we look forward to what the future holds for them all.

Now that we have our new premises and can train in our pods indoors we have begun to concentrate on our sparring skills and preparing for our Christmas grading. Due to all the restrictions this year we were unable to have our summer graduation so hopefully we can have one this coming December. Junsa would like to wish all their members and friends a very Happy Christmas and a safe new year.We are always looking for new members young and old to take part in our wonderful Martial Art and sport. Merry Christmas everyone.

The club were delighted to reach the milestone of over 700 members recently. Thanks to all the coaches, volunteers and members for the continued support you give to make our club what it is. We are really proud to be practising all athletic disciplines; within a fully inclusive club. A bike stand has been constructed at The Hub so we encourage all members to cycle, walk or run to training where possible. Tickets for the Lusk AC Christmas Raffle are now on sale with details on our facebook page. We have some fantastic prizes and all proceeds will help to raise funds for the club for the year ahead. We are excited to announce that the date for the Lusk 4 mile will be Sunday 6th March. Registration is now open through our website Luskathleticclub.ie. Editors Note: We at Locals magazines wish to thank on our own and on your behalf Sean Greensit as PRO with Lusk AC for the wonderful work done by him as he retires from that post and we wish him all the best for the future . We also wish his successor Matt Wade well in the post and look forward to working with him.

Donabate parkrun returned at the end of September after a long absence due to the pandemic and we celebrated our 6th anniversary in October. There have been regularly attendances of over 150 participants and it’s been fantastic to see everyone enjoying their 5km run, walk or jog as well as catching up with friends for a chat and coffee. We recently purchased a defibrillator which will be available if needed at parkrun each Saturday. This was possible thanks to the generosity of donations made by parkrunners. We are truly grateful for this. We usually need up to 20 volunteers each Saturday to cover all the roles needed for a successful and safe parkrun. Some would say that it’s even more fun volunteering than actually running a parkrun so please get in touch if you could help for an hour. Donabate parkrun is a free, timed 5k run, walk or jog that takes place at 9:30am every Saturday at Newbridge House. You can contact us by email if yo are interested at Donabate@parkrun.com or send us a message on Facebook.

It’s not often that we get to write about History Makers but that’s what the U13 boys squad from St Pats are! A massive Buladh Bós to them for winning their Juvenile Hurling League for the first tice in the Club’s almost hundred year history. They were the first Juvenile team in the Club ever to compete at this level and now only a few scant years later, they’re the first to take a Juvenile Title. Winning a League Title in any sport is a fantastic achievement but to win one in a recently introduced discipline with no older juvenile squads ahead to guide you is a feat unto itself. This squad might be the first to play both Hurling and Football but they’re not the only ones. They’re leading the charge in Pats Juvenile section where U13 down all play Gaelic Football along with Hurling/Camogie. What a fantastic position to be in as the Club approaches their century in 2024. Who could’ve imagined back in 1924 that they’d have 1,100 members and be playing Football, LGFA, Hurling & Camogie. If you or your children would like to join the fun, just email them at info@stpatsgaa.com

We are delighted to announce that work commenced on the construction of our second full size all weather pitch in Gannon Park recently. Weather permitting we will be training and playing games on the new pitch by December.
